Our Mission: To work unselfishly for the benefit of all people by creating simple, delicious, healthful, plant-based foods, that will promote life and not bring disease.

Environment

Everywhere we go we are asked about the impact WayFare has on the environment, about our “carbon footprint”.  Where we were raised, a “carbon footprint” was something we left in the snow after emptying the ashes out of our grandmother's wood cookstove so we thought we’d better let you know where we stand.

We spent our childhoods farming and working in the woods.  Every aspect of our lives revolved around nature and stewardship to sustain our families and our farm.  When we built WayFare, the thought of doing something different never occurred to us.  We didn’t have big budgets to hire really smart people to show us how to build a high-tech, eco-friendly manufacturing plant. We did what we have always done: we applied common sense.  Because of this, our entire facility doesn’t even own a dumpster.  Nearly every resource coming into our plant either goes into the product or is recycled.  We continue to work at improving our system and we value any input you may have.

People often ask about the source of our electricity for manufacturing.  We know the importance of this and while we strive to use only renewable sources (easier to do in Montana), our first priority is finding ways to use less.  We spent most of our life on the farm trying to figure out how to make things easier and less expensive by using nature rather than buying more machines and using more energy to do the job.  We apply these concepts and common sense to the entire process from start to finish.  We designed our system to use free and eco-friendly forces like gravity where others use machines to do certain jobs.

Additionally, we’re requiring more from our suppliers by demanding less packaging, transportation, and processing to save resources, time, and cost.  We strive to know each ingredient supplier and their approach to the natural world around us.

Many today seem to want to capitalize upon their good environmental stewardship.  At WayFare, we plan to do quietly what comes naturally from our roots.  We are always trying to improve and we want you to know that you have our absolute commitment. Please give us yours. Part of a “common” sense approach is to harvest knowledge from others.  If you have ideas and suggestions, please let us know!  We’re all here together.
